Triplicane

Triplicane is a neighborhood in Chennai with a mix of traditional South Indian row houses and modern residential buildings along narrow lanes. The architecture reflects older structures with lime-rendered walls alongside newer constructions that define the area.

The area developed during the Pallava period and was among the first villages acquired by the English to expand Madras beyond White Town. This early colonial period shaped the neighborhood's growth and infrastructure.

The Parthasarathy Temple serves as the spiritual heart of the neighborhood, where devotees gather daily for prayers and rituals. Annual festivals bring people from across the city to celebrate religious traditions in this sacred space.

The name Triplicane comes from the Tamil words Thiru-Alli-Keni, referring to a sacred lotus pond that once existed near the temple. This original name preserves the memory of the area's spiritual landscape before its modern development.
