Amir Mahal, Indo-Saracenic palace in Royapettah, Chennai, India.
The Amir Mahal spans across 14 acres of land, featuring 80 rooms and serving as the official residence of the Nawab of Arcot.
The British East India Company constructed this administrative building in 1798, which Robert Chrisholm later converted into a palace for the Nawab in 1876.
The drawing hall displays portraits of dignitaries, while the Durbar hall contains an eight-foot-long painting dating back 125 years.
The palace remains a private residence for over 500 family members of the Nawab, with limited access to the general public.
A small cricket ground on the premises undergoes renovation works by the government, adding a recreational element to this historical structure.
