Malampuzha Dam, Dam in Kerala, India
Malampuzha Dam is the largest reservoir in Kerala, located near Palakkad in south India.
Constructed in 1955, Malampuzha Dam was a part of the first five-year plan by the Indian government.
The dam is surrounded by a beautifully maintained park and features a rock garden made from broken pieces of bangles, tiles, used plastic cans, tins and other waste materials.
Visitors can enjoy boating on the reservoir or ride the rope-way to get a panoramic view of the entire valley.
The dam is famous for its large sculpture of Yakshi, an enchantress from Hindu mythology, created by Kanai Kunhiraman.
