Victoria Town Hall, Coimbatore, Neoclassical municipal building in Coimbatore, India
The Victoria Town Hall spans half an acre with a 6,000-square-foot layout, featuring three Gothic arches and a balcony on its white-painted facade.
Built in 1892 to commemorate Queen Victoria's reign, the structure cost 10,000 rupees, funded by both the municipality and contributions from local citizens.
The building has hosted significant figures including Mahatma Gandhi and served as the District Central Library on its mezzanine floor from 1952 to 1956.
The Town Hall contains a 3,000-square-foot assembly hall and continues to function as the meeting venue for the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation.
The building's roof incorporates red Mangalore tiles and solid timber trusses, supported by Tuscan columns constructed with stone and lime mortar.
