Nehru Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in central Coimbatore, near V.O. Chidambaram Park, built in 1971 with single-tiered spectator terraces holding 30,000. A 400 m athletics track circles a field used for football and hockey, and floodlights allow day and night matches. Concrete blocks protrude from the terracing around the perimeter, the remains of an abandoned upper tier.

The stadium opened in 1971 and was named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. Its establishment marked a turning point in the development of organized sports in the city.

The 1971 plan called for a two-tier stadium of 45,000 seats, but only the lower tier of 30,000 was built. Concrete blocks still jut from the terracing around the perimeter, used in the main stand and two curves to support a roof over spectators.
