Pazhassi Raja Archaeological Museum

Pazhassi Raja Archaeological Museum is a repository of artifacts from various periods of Kerala's past. It houses stone sculptures, metal objects, pottery, and ancient coins that tell stories of people who lived in the region long ago.

The building was originally constructed in 1812 as a residential structure and later repurposed for a different use. It became an archaeological museum in 1976 and was renamed to honor a historical local figure in 1980.

The museum displays items from megalithic times and early regional cultures. Visitors see burial urns and temple models that reflect how people lived and worshipped in ancient Kerala.

The museum is located a short distance from the city railway station and follows a split schedule with a midday break. Visitors should plan enough time to look through the collections and prepare for varying light conditions inside.

Beyond local discoveries, the collection includes military equipment from British and French soldiers found at the site. This reveals how different historical periods and cultures met in this place.
