Kozhikode Beach

Kozhikode Beach is a shoreline along the Arabian Sea with wide sandy stretches bordered by coconut palms and fishing vessels moored at the water's edge. The coast curves gently for several kilometers with shallow waters near the shore.

This beach served as a major trading hub during medieval times when merchant vessels from Europe and Arabia exchanged spices and textiles. These shipping routes shaped the region's prosperity for centuries.

Fishermen begin their work at dawn along the shore while vendors sell traditional Malabar snacks and fresh seafood, reflecting the daily rhythms of the coast.

The beach has parking areas, public restrooms, and lifeguard presence for safety and comfort. Late afternoon visits offer better conditions with fewer crowds and good lighting before sunset.

A lighthouse from 1904 stands at the northern end and still functions as an aid to maritime navigation. This structure provides views across the entire bay from its vantage point.
