Kadalur Point Lighthouse, Maritime beacon on Arabian Sea coast, Kerala, India
The circular stone masonry tower stands 34 meters tall with distinctive black and white horizontal bands and a red dome at its summit.
The lighthouse, commissioned in 1907, marks the location formerly known as Cotta Point where a significant shipwreck occurred in the 18th century.
The structure maintains its role in supporting local fishing communities while representing the maritime heritage of the Kozhikode district in Kerala.
Located 30 kilometers from Kozhikode city, the lighthouse emits light from a metal halide lamp visible up to 23 nautical miles at sea.
The remnants of the historical shipwreck that influenced the original name of this location remain visible near the rocky shoreline.
