Gohad Fort, Stone fortification in Gohad, Madhya Pradesh, India
The fort extends over five kilometers with multiple defensive layers including an outer rampart, a trench, and a high protective wall.
Built in 1505 by Rana Singhandev II, the fort served as a crucial stronghold for Jat rulers who migrated from Bamrauli near Agra.
Several temples within the fort complex, including those dedicated to Rama, Laxman, and Shiva, reflect the religious practices of ancient rulers.
Located 45 kilometers from Gwalior city, the fort contains government offices in the Navin Mahal building constructed during Maharaja Chhatra Singh's reign.
The fort features an octagonal ceremonial hall and incorporates Iranian-influenced decorative elements with fish, bird, and flower motifs in its plasterwork.
