Raj Bhavan, Official residence in Dona Paula, India
The Raj Bhavan extends over 88 acres on a cape with double-storey structures overlooking the Arabian Sea and the meeting point of Mandovi and Zuari rivers.
Originally named Palácio do Cabo, the fortress-palace was constructed between the 16th and 17th centuries during Portuguese rule and served as the governor's residence.
The chapel contains a wooden altar from the early seventeenth century, painted in white and gold, displaying intricate carvings from Portuguese architectural traditions.
The residence includes a private helipad, beach access, jetty facilities, and multiple reception halls for hosting official ceremonies and governmental functions.
A grotto near the chapel houses a statue of Santa Paula that, according to local stories, repeatedly returned to shore when villagers attempted to throw it into the sea.
