Satyawati College, university college in Delhi, India
Satyawati College is a degree college affiliated with the University of Delhi, located in the Ashok Vihar neighborhood in the northwest of the city. It runs both day and evening undergraduate programs across subjects such as commerce, economics, mathematics, languages, and arts.
The college was founded in 1972 by the Delhi government to bring higher education to more people in the city. An evening program was added the following year, opening access to those who worked during the day.
The college is named after Satyavati Devi, a poet who took part in India's independence movement. Her name appears on signs across the campus, and students today study in a place shaped by her memory.
The campus is in Ashok Vihar and is easy to reach by bus or auto-rickshaw from many parts of Delhi. Some facilities such as the library and sports areas may be restricted to students, so it is worth checking before you visit.
A display board on the campus shows real-time air pollution readings for the surrounding area. This kind of installation is not common at Indian colleges and makes local air quality visible to anyone walking through the grounds.
