Sewri Fort

Sewri Fort is an octagonal stone structure with high defensive walls and multiple bastions positioned along Mumbai Harbor's eastern shore. The fort contains passages, open courtyards, and fortified positions designed to command views of the water and approaching vessels.

The fort was built in 1680 during the Maratha Empire era and served as a strategic military post to defend Mumbai Harbor from Portuguese naval threats. Its construction marked an important moment in the region's maritime defense strategy.
