Prathyangira Devi Temple, Shollinganallur, Hindu temple in Shollinganallur, India
Prathyangira Devi Temple is a Hindu temple in Shollinganallur, India, positioned along the Buckingham Canal near the Bay of Bengal. Several shrines and carved details fill the grounds, which spread across an open layout dotted with trees and water features.
The temple was built in 1998 and consecrated the following year. Two religious institutions from Sringeri and Kanchipuram guided the ceremony, giving the site its ritual framework.
Devotees gather at the temple to worship Prathyangira Devi, who emerged from Sarabheswarar's third eye combining lion and human characteristics.
Visitors can enter the grounds between 8 AM and noon, then again from 4 PM until about a quarter to 8 PM on weekdays. Sundays offer longer evening hours so more people can attend the rituals.
This sanctuary is the only place where Prathyangira Devi receives worship in her peaceful form. Fire rituals can be witnessed without charge, drawing visitors into the flow of the ceremonies.
