The boathouse facility spans along the East Coast Road, featuring 15 row boats, 27 speedboats, and 9 pedal boats on a lake with depths between 3 and 6 feet.
The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation established this recreational center in 1984, later adding a bamboo boathouse and floating jetty in July 2009.
The water sports venue attracts over 4,000 visitors each weekend, connecting residents of Chennai with traditional boating activities and modern water recreation.
Located 36 kilometers from Chennai and 23 kilometers from Adyar, the facility operates daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with complete safety equipment and rescue teams.
During the 2015 Chennai flood, the boathouse facilities transformed into a rescue operations center, providing essential support during the emergency situation.
