Kaldurg Fort

Kaldurg Fort rises 475 meters above sea level with a rectangular plateau formation divided into upper and lower sections by stone steps. The structure uses the natural slope to create multiple levels that served defensive and administrative purposes.

The strategic location on the boundary between Javhar and Thane made it a key observation point for monitoring regional movements. The fort served as an important control center for protecting trade routes and defending against outside threats in this mountainous area.

The surrounding forest lands are home to tribal communities who continue their traditional way of life across the Sahyadri mountain range.

Access is by train to Palghar station, then bus to Manor, with the trek beginning from Waghoba temple at the base. The terrain is hilly and steep in sections, so sturdy footwear and reasonable fitness help with the climb.

From the summit, visitors can see both the Arabian Sea and the Surya River stretching across the landscape. This dual vista allows travelers to grasp how the mountains connect to the coastal plains below in a single sweeping view.
