Ganesha Ratha, Rock-cut temple in Mahabalipuram, India

The Ganesha Ratha temple features three tiers adorned with intricate carvings, rectangular layout, and a columned verandah guarded by stone sculptures.

Initially constructed in the seventh century during King Mahendravarman I reign, the temple changed from Shiva worship to Ganesha dedication in the 1880s.

The temple contains 18 inscriptions in Grantha and Nāgarī scripts, documenting historical references and religious texts about Narasimhavarman I and Shiva.

The temple stands 20 feet long by 11.5 feet wide externally, with an internal chamber measuring 7 by 4 feet for worship ceremonies.

The structure represents a complete rock-cut temple carved from pink granite, based on an original wooden prototype from the Pallava Period.
