Abu Road railway station is a surface-level station in Sirohi, Rajasthan, with three platforms and six tracks serving as a major junction between Delhi-Ajmer and Jaipur-Ahmedabad routes. The station sits at approximately 262 meters (860 feet) elevation and processes around 132 trains weekly, connecting distant cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Mumbai.
The station opened in 1881 as part of Rajasthan's railway expansion and was originally built with metre gauge track. The line was later converted to broad gauge to accommodate more trains at higher speeds.
The station serves as a gateway to Mount Abu, drawing pilgrims and tourists from across India. It reflects local life through the steady flow of people boarding trains, meeting family members, and beginning journeys to sacred and leisure destinations.
