Jatayu Nature Park, Nature park in Chadayamangalam, India
Jatayu Nature Park sits on a rock outcrop in Chadayamangalam and features a giant bird sculpture made from reinforced concrete. The entire site covers more than 26 hectares at around 350 meters elevation.
The project opened in December 2017 and was completed in stages through August 2018. It became the first public-private partnership tourism development in Kerala.
The enormous bird sculpture depicts Jatayu, who according to Hindu mythology attempted to rescue Sita from Ravana. Visitors can walk through the sculpture and explore viewing platforms built inside.
The site lies about an hour's drive from the nearest major town and can be reached by winding roads. Those who prefer not to climb the stairs can use the cable car on weekdays.
An adventure center uses the natural rock formations for activities like climbing and zip-lining across different difficulty levels. The facility also offers paintball and rappelling down the steep hillside.
