Mandrem Beach

Mandrem Beach is a shoreline stretching between Arambol and Ashwem with white sand backed by palm and casuarina trees. A creek separates the beach from inland areas, crossed via wooden bridges that visitors use to reach the sand.

This section of coast maintained its natural character from the 1970s onward, when international travelers first arrived and discovered the area. The arrival of visitors during that era began shaping how the place developed without erasing its working character.

Local fishing communities actively work along this shoreline, and you can watch wooden boats bring in daily catches during early morning hours. This working waterfront shapes how the space feels and functions for both residents and visitors.

You need to cross wooden bridges over a creek to reach the sand, as water separates the beach from the inland areas. Swimming is most comfortable from October through April when water conditions are favorable and warmer.

This shoreline serves as a protected nesting ground for Olive Ridley sea turtles during their breeding season. Conservation measures are in place during these months to safeguard the nesting sites and newly hatched turtles entering the water.
