Dudhsagar Dairy plant

Dudhsagar Dairy plant is an industrial facility in Mehsana that processes milk across multiple production levels. The structure uses gravity to move raw milk from intake through pasteurization, condensation, and powder production stages.

The plant opened in 1973 as part of a national milk development program and marked a turning point in modernizing India's dairy production. This project arrived when the country sought to upgrade its agricultural sector with new technology.

The facility design combines brutalist and postmodern architectural elements, reflecting both India's industrial progress and traditional cooperative farming methods.

The site is best reached by car since it sits outside the town center with limited public transport nearby. Visiting works best in morning or early afternoon hours when production activities are in full swing.

The building uses natural ventilation ducts rising from rooftops instead of mechanical fans to control temperature throughout. This passive cooling system shows how the designers created practical solutions using less energy.
