Mansour district, Administrative district in western Baghdad, Iraq
Mansour is a residential district in western Baghdad that extends from al-Karkh toward the international airport and serves multiple functions. The area contains housing, markets, commercial centers, and schools that structure daily life.
The neighborhood emerged in the 1950s under royal rule when the al-Mansour Shareholding Company developed residential areas. The Dragh district was built at that time specifically for state employees and shapes the structure today.
The al-Mansour Club shapes community life through sports events and social gatherings that have taken place here since 1952. People come together to participate in swimming competitions or watch horse racing, giving the neighborhood its own distinct character.
Major streets like Fourteenth of Ramadan Street and al-Amirat Street connect different parts of the neighborhood. These routes help visitors navigate between districts and toward the airport.
The al-Ma'mun Tower stands as a notable structure housing a communication center and a rotating restaurant. From this vantage point, visitors can see the entire district from an unusual perspective.
