Abrisham Bridge, Cable-stayed footbridge in Abbas Abad, Iran

Abrisham Bridge is a cable-stayed pedestrian crossing made of steel that spans the Hemmat Expressway for 133 meters with a tilted supporting tower. The angled pylon reaches 40 meters high and is braced by 20 cables that help support the walkway, which measures about 10 meters wide.

Construction started in 2007 through a partnership between Iranian builders and Chinese cable manufacturers, finishing the following year. This marked the first time Tehran had built a pedestrian crossing with a tilted pylon design, setting a new direction for the city's footbridge architecture.

The name comes from the Persian word for silk, reflecting a poetic choice for this crossing that links two parks used by locals and visitors. It has become part of the daily urban landscape, showing how a modern structure was woven into the existing green spaces of the city.

The crossing between Districts 3 and 6 sits about 100 meters south of the Iran Shipping Lines Tower, making it relatively easy to locate on foot. The bridge offers clear sightlines along its length and benefits from good lighting, which helps ensure safe passage at different times of day.

The cables supporting this structure have unequal lengths ranging from 20 to 53 meters, creating an asymmetrical pattern that sets it apart from typical pedestrian bridges. This arrangement gives the bridge its distinctive appearance and was specifically engineered to handle the constant movement from the highway below.
