Naples Cathedral, Gothic cathedral in Naples, Italy
The cathedral extends over 320 feet in length with three naves supported by marble columns and features pointed arches and ribbed vaults throughout its structure.
Charles II of Naples founded this cathedral in 1272 on the foundations of two early Christian basilicas, with Greek and Roman artifacts discovered beneath.
The Royal Chapel of the Treasure contains numerous frescoes, altarpieces, and bronze decorations created by Italian master artists through different periods.
The cathedral opens daily from 8 AM to 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM to 7 PM, with free entrance except for the Baptistery which costs 2 euros.
Three times per year, a ceremonial display presents a vial containing Saint Januarius blood, which transforms from solid to liquid state.
