Girolamini, Renaissance church near Naples Cathedral, Italy
The church features a Latin cross layout with three naves, lateral chapels, and two cloisters adorned with orange trees and art collections.
Construction began in 1592 under architect Giovanni Antonio Dosio, with the facade redesigned by Ferdinando Fuga in 1780 during the Bourbon period.
The interior contains numerous artworks, frescoes by Francesco Solimena, and marble angels crafted by Giuseppe Sanmartino in the eighteenth century.
The church stands at Via Duomo 142, directly across from Naples Cathedral, with its main entrance situated on Piazzetta Gerolamini.
The Biblioteca dei Girolamini, established in 1586, represents Naples' oldest library and Italy's second oldest, containing thousands of manuscripts and printed works.
