ISpeed, Steel launched roller coaster at Mirabilandia, Italy
iSpeed is a steel roller coaster with launch acceleration at Mirabilandia amusement park in Emilia-Romagna. The 55-meter-high track runs through several turns and inversions along its 980-meter length.
The coaster opened in 2009 and replaced an older wooden ride on the same site. It was the first major launch coaster in an Italian theme park at the time.
The name refers to the high speed delivered on every run, matching red trains that echo racing colors. Visitors experience a modern ride that draws from Italian motor racing tradition.
Visitors without previous coaster experience should be ready for intense acceleration from the start. The best times to visit are mornings and late afternoons outside peak summer, when waits are shorter.
The acceleration uses magnetic copper fins along the track that work without moving parts. This system allows the ride to control speed at different points and slow down again.
