Pineta di Cervia, Mediterranean pine forest in Cervia, Italy
The Pineta di Cervia is a Mediterranean forest spanning 210 hectares between Cervia and Milano Marittima with maritime pines, stone pines, and oak trees throughout. Five entrance points allow visitors to access different sections of this woodland area.
This forest once formed part of a vast woodland system that stretched south of the Reno River. Wars in the early 1900s destroyed much of these woods, though sections here survived.
Locals use this forest as an everyday retreat for walking and watching birds and small animals move through the trees. The paths feel like places where people come to step away from the nearby coastal towns.
The forest can be reached from multiple entrances including Via Stazzone and near the cemetery area. Visit early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler and wildlife is more active.
Wet meadow areas within the forest support the rare Ravenna lily growing naturally among tall grasses and reeds. This plant species is uncommon in this region and makes the site botanically special.
