Vesuvius National Park

The park spans 54 kilometers of pathways across 13 municipalities, encompassing Mount Vesuvius and its surrounding Mediterranean vegetation ecosystem.

Established on June 5, 1995, the national park protects the geological formations and natural heritage of Europe's only active mainland volcano.

The territory includes ancient Roman archaeological sites such as Pompeii, Herculaneum, and numerous traditional agricultural estates producing local specialties.

Visitors can access the park daily from 9:00 to 18:00 and explore eleven different marked trails leading to various points of geological interest.

The Gran Cono path allows visitors to walk along the rim of an active volcanic crater while observing scientific monitoring stations.
