Loggia dei Lanzi, also known as Loggia della Signoria, is an open-air sculpture gallery located in Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy.
Constructed between 1376 and 1382 by Benci di Cione and Simone di Francesco Talenti, it was originally designed to shelter the Signoria, the ruling body of the Republic of Florence.
It houses some of the most important sculptures of the Renaissance, including works by Cellini, Giambologna, and Donatello.
The Loggia dei Lanzi is free to visit and open to the public at all times.
Its name 'Lanzi' refers to the Lanzichenecchi, Swiss mercenaries who used the loggia as a guard post in the 16th century.
