Palazzo della Casa del Mutilato, Naples

Palazzo della Casa del Mutilato, Naples, Monumental architectural structure from 1940 in Naples, Italy

Palazzo della Casa del Mutilato is a monumental building with stone facade panels decorated with sculptures by Vico Consorti and Giuseppe Pellegrini. The structure occupies a prominent position in Naples and displays the architectural features of the early 20th century with clear formal language.

The building was constructed between 1938 and 1940 under architect Camillo Guerra during the fascist period to serve wounded soldiers from World War I. Its creation required the demolition of several houses in the San Giuseppe-Carità district to make room for this new structure.

The building is named after an association for wounded soldiers and shows through its monumental design the values of its era. Visitors notice the grand staircase and Victory statue inside, which emphasize honor and national strength.

The building sits at the intersection of via Guantai Nuovi and via Diaz at Piazza Matteotti, near Naples' main post office. The location is central and easily reached on foot, with clear visibility from the street.

Inside, a notable Victory statue sits above the monumental staircase and serves as a central focal point of the interior design. This artwork was part of an intentional visual message the building was meant to convey.
