Santa Maria de Lama

Santa Maria de Lama is a Romanesque church in Salerno featuring a two-level structure with an underground level and an upper floor connected through medieval architectural elements. The upper section contains a three-nave layout that was developed over time.

The building was founded in the 11th century reflecting early Christian architecture of that era. In the 13th century it underwent significant modifications including the addition of the three-nave upper section and other structural improvements.

The walls display frescoes from different periods showing depictions of saints including Andrew, Bartholomew, Lawrence, and Radegonde. These paintings give insight into the religious devotion practiced at this site across the centuries.
