Moses, Renaissance marble sculpture in San Pietro in Vincoli church, Rome, Italy.

The marble statue of Moses, measuring 235 centimeters in height, depicts the biblical figure holding the Tablets of Law with intense facial expression.

Michelangelo carved this statue between 1513 and 1515 as part of Pope Julius II's tomb project, which underwent multiple modifications during its creation period.

The horns on Moses' head resulted from a Latin Vulgate translation error of Hebrew text, where rays of light were interpreted as actual horns.

The sculpture stands in the right transept of San Pietro in Vincoli church, which remains open to visitors daily except during religious ceremonies.

Michelangelo reportedly struck the completed statue's knee with his hammer and demanded it speak, leaving a mark still visible on the sculpture today.
