La Spedla, Mountain summit in Grisons, Switzerland and Italy
La Spedla is a mountain summit located on the border between Switzerland and Italy in Grisons. The peak rises to 4,020 meters and forms part of the Bernina Range with several distinct ridges.
The mountain was named after Giuseppe Perrucchetti, an Italian General and Senator who contributed to the region's military history. The peak's name thus links to the shared heritage of both neighboring territories.
The summit represents an important geographical marker between Swiss and Italian territories, forming part of the extensive Bernina Range mountain system.
Climbers can access the summit via multiple routes and should prepare for exposed and challenging conditions. The nearest support point, Rifugio Marco e Rosa, lies roughly 835 meters to the southeast and offers a place to prepare.
The peak has three distinct ridges, including a challenging southwestern approach that descends to Breccia dello Scerscen at 3,870 meters. This southwestern route sees fewer visitors than the main summit paths.
