Rifugio Croz dell'Altissimo, Mountain refuge in Molveno, Italy
Rifugio Croz dell'Altissimo is a mountain hut in Molveno located at about 1435 meters elevation, positioned directly below a 900-meter rock face in the Brenta Dolomites. The shelter offers 18 beds with shared bathrooms and a restaurant serving regional dishes.
The shelter was founded in 1962 by the Spellini family and served mountaineers crossing through Bocca di Brenta. Significant climbing routes were established on the nearby walls during the 1970s.
The refuge serves as a meeting place for climbers and hikers from around the world who gather to share routes and experiences on the Brenta walls. It functions as a hub where mountain enthusiasts exchange knowledge about local climbing conditions and trail recommendations.
The hut operates from early May through late September and works best for visitors planning climbing or hiking activities. An e-bike charging station is available, and a climbing wall allows training during unfavorable weather conditions on the rock faces.
The 900-meter rock face offers climbers of all levels a range of routes from beginner to expert difficulty. What makes it special is the variety of climbing paths developed over decades by experienced mountaineers exploring the Brenta walls.
