National Etruscan Museum "Rocca Albornoz", Archaeological museum in Viterbo, Italy.

The National Etruscan Museum is housed across three levels within the medieval Rocca Albornoz fortress and displays extensive collections of Etruscan artifacts and architectural elements. The museum presents objects from tombs and settlements along with pottery and sculptures that document the daily life and artistic skills of the Etruscan people.

Cardinal Gil Alvarez Carillo de Albornoz commissioned the construction of this fortress in 1354, which later transitioned from military use to a museum building. The conversion to a cultural institution occurred in 1981, transforming the structure into a repository for significant archaeological finds from the region.

The exhibition halls show reconstructions of ancient Etruscan houses from Acquarossa with architectural details and decorative terracotta elements from daily life. These recreations help visitors imagine how people in this ancient civilization lived and designed their homes.

The museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday between 08:30 and 19:30, offering full accessibility throughout the exhibition spaces. Plan time to explore all three levels, and note that rooms can get crowded, especially in the afternoon.

The museum houses the remarkable chariot tomb from Ischia di Castro, which dates back to the 6th century BC. Together with silver artifacts from local excavations, this object is among the most valuable pieces in the collection.
