Santa Maria della Verità, Gothic church in Viterbo, Italy
The Santa Maria della Verità church features a Latin cross layout with a tall nave, rounded arch portal, and circular window on its facade.
Founded by Premonstratensian monks in the 13th century, the church was initially dedicated to Saint Macario before the Servite Order took control.
The Mazzatosta chapel contains a preserved 15th-century majolica tile floor and frescoes depicting the Life of the Virgin by Lorenzo da Viterbo.
The church stands adjacent to the Civic Museum, which occupies the former convent building and contains numerous artifacts from the original structure.
Three children reported seeing the Virgin Mary inside the church in 1446, transforming it into a sanctuary that attracted many pilgrims.
