Anfiteatro di Boboli, Garden amphitheater in Boboli Gardens, Florence, Italy
The amphitheater features rising stone tiers arranged in a semi-circular pattern with white marble statues positioned along the upper balustrades.
Construction began in 1550 to transform a former quarry site, with Niccolò Pericoli designing the initial layout before completion in 1634 under Giulio Parigi's direction.
The space transitioned from a performance venue to an Italian garden in 1739 during celebrations for Grand Duke Francis Stephen of Lorraine's arrival.
The amphitheater remains accessible through the Boboli Gardens entrance tickets, with guided tours available throughout the morning and afternoon hours.
An Egyptian obelisk from 1300-1550 BC stands at the center of the amphitheater, accompanied by a large grey granite bathtub installed in 1840.
