Chiesa del Gesù

The Chiesa del Gesù features a concave facade with white Istrian stone and brick details, accessed by a semi-elliptical staircase near Piazza Stracca.

Count Nappi commissioned the initial construction in 1605, while architect Luigi Vanvitelli expanded the structure between 1733 and 1743 to its current form.

The interior follows a Latin cross layout with a central nave covered by a barrel vault with lunettes, complemented by two lateral naves forming interconnected chapels.

The church stands at an elevated position from the plaza, offering views of the Gulf of Ancona through multiple access points including stairs and a side alley.

The octagonal tiburium concealed behind the balustrade attic contains the dome, creating an architectural composition that integrates with the surrounding urban landscape.
