Saint Pius X church, Modern Catholic church in Balduina, Rome, Italy
The concrete and glass building features clean lines, wide windows, and a prominent bronze crucifix created by artist Publio Morbiducci at the main altar.
The church construction started in 1957 under architect Alberto Ressa's direction and received its consecration in 1961, becoming a titular church in 1969.
The church includes a dedicated side chapel to Padre Pio with a painting by Ulisse Sartini and a Tamburini pipe organ installed in 1969.
The religious complex at Via Attilio Friggeri 87 conducts regular services in Italian and maintains an active parish community throughout the year.
The church gained recognition as a filming location for the 1964 movie 'The Last Man on Earth', with its altar featured in the final scene.
