Circuito di Torretta
Circuito di Torretta is a motorsport racing track located near Palermo on a large site covering about 70 hectares. The track itself measures around 2.4 kilometers in length, is roughly 14 meters wide, and features 15 curves that demand different driving skills.
Construction of the track began in summer 2003 after the land was leveled and safety checks were completed. The first section opened in summer 2007 and was used for various races and tests until the circuit officially closed in 2019.
The track is accessible by local roads, with the main approach from Palermo following Via Castellana to the SP1 highway that leads to the site. Since the circuit is currently closed to the public, there is no regular access, though remnants of the former facilities remain visible from surrounding areas.
The site was originally used as a dumping ground before being converted into a racing venue. This transformation shows how abandoned land can be repurposed for motorsport projects.
