Palazzetto Coppedè, Palace in central Messina, Italy.
Palazzetto Coppedè is a palace in central Messina that features ornate balconies with crab and eagle motifs, rounded corners, and decorative biforas across its exterior facades. The structure occupies a prominent position in the urban setting and stands out for its numerous architectural details.
The building was constructed between 1915 and 1917 as the headquarters for Banco Cerruti. After World War II, it underwent modifications including the addition of an extra floor designed by engineer Giuseppe Mallandrino.
The building displays neomedieval features through human mask sculptures, colorful graffiti details, and intricate window moldings that visitors can easily notice while passing by. These decorative touches shape the facade's appearance and make the palace a visual landmark along the central street.
The building stands at the corner of Via Garibaldi and Via Cardines and is easy to reach on foot. Its location in the city center makes it simple to view while walking through downtown.
Architect Gino Coppedè combined Baroque elements, Art Nouveau features, and classical forms into his own architectural style. This blend of different periods makes the building stand out as a distinctive creation.
