The royal palace, constructed in the early 16th century, became a center of political power where monarchs and dignitaries conducted state affairs during Sicily's Spanish rule.
Within its decorated chambers, the palace contains Renaissance period artworks, architectural details, and ceremonial spaces that reflect the aristocratic lifestyle of Messina's past.
The palace opens daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with guided tours available in multiple languages and accessible entrances for visitors with reduced mobility.
Despite the 1783 earthquake that damaged much of Messina, the palace survived and underwent reconstruction, preserving its Renaissance architectural features for future generations.
