Parco GruBrìa, Nature reserve in Desio, Italy.
Parco GruBria is a nature reserve that extends across several municipalities and preserves agricultural fields, wetlands, and remnants of floodplain forests between the Villoresi plain and fontanils. The area is managed by a consortium that maintains walking trails, cycling routes, and various access points for visitors.
The reserve was created in 2019 through the merger of two existing parks, Grugnotorto Villoresi and Brianza Centrale, and received official recognition through provincial decrees in 2020. This union formed a larger connected natural area within a densely populated region.
The reserve provides habitat for rare bird species and amphibians that breed and live in the wetlands and woodland edges. Visitors can observe these animals particularly during spring and autumn walks.
Access is possible on foot or by bicycle, with multiple entry points and trails that wind through the different municipalities. The consortium provides an interactive map and information about seasonal activities to help visitors plan their visits.
The reserve functions as an ecological corridor connecting regional parks such as Nord Milano, Groane, and Valle Lambro, linking green spaces across one of Europe's most densely populated regions. This role as a network binding isolated natural areas together makes it particularly valuable for local biodiversity.
