Parco galileiano, Museum and park in Pisa, Italy

Parco Galileiano is a public park in Pisa, laid out on the former military area of the Cittadella that was heavily bombed in World War II. Of Giovanni Michelucci's 1957 project, only a metal footbridge, an open-air theater and a water basin were built; most of the park remains unusable.

The site was badly damaged during World War Two and afterward set aside for a new public park. Architect Giovanni Michelucci drew up plans in 1957 to honor Galileo Galilei, but the project was never fully completed.

The park sits close to the city center and can be reached on foot from most of Pisa's main sights. Not all areas are open at all times, so it is worth checking which parts are accessible before visiting.

The 2007 recovery plan by the Pisa municipality drew on Michelucci's scheme but altered it, adding an artificial pond and converting the water basin into a gym. A further recovery project for the whole area was presented in 2015 but received no funding.
