Porta Eburnea, Medieval city gate in Perugia, Italy.

The gate features a pointed arch design constructed from solid travertine marble blocks, forming an almond-shaped entrance through the western city walls.

Originally built during the Etruscan period with a round arch, the gate underwent modifications in the Middle Ages, transforming its shape into the current pointed design.

The name Porta Eburnea refers to ivory, reflecting the historical connection of this district to elephant symbolism in ancient Perugia.

The gate serves as an entry point to the historic center from Via San Giacomo, connecting modern Perugia with its medieval district.

The structure retains its original Etruscan travertine base while incorporating medieval architectural elements in its upper section.
