Rifugio Angelo Alimonta, Mountain hut in Brenta Dolomites, Italy
Rifugio Angelo Alimonta sits at 8465 feet (2580 meters) among steep rock walls and formations in the core of the Brenta Range. The facility houses dormitory bedding, shower facilities, and a dining area serving meals to hikers and climbers.
The shelter was founded in 1968 by the Alimonta family as a base for climbers. It quickly became an essential support point for mountaineers tackling the surrounding vertical rock faces and summits.
The refuge serves as a gathering point where climbers enjoy regional mountain cuisine and exchange knowledge about local routes and conditions with staff.
The refuge operates seasonally from June through September and requires advance booking, especially during peak months. Visitors should plan to arrive early and be ready for basic accommodations and hearty meals.
A memorial bell hangs at the entrance, honoring the refuge's past. From here, climbers access the Via delle Bocchette, a well-known cable and ladder climbing route through the rock.
