Refuge Guido Lorenzi, Mountain hut in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy
Refuge Guido Lorenzi is a mountain hut located at 2932 meters elevation near Forcella Stounies, positioned between the northwestern slopes of Cristallo and Cristallino d'Ampezzo. The shelter sits along major mountaineering routes in this region of the Dolomites.
The hut was built in 1959 and sits along a route that saw military use during World War I. This pass formed part of the Alpine front lines during the conflict.
The refuge forms part of the extensive network of Alpine shelters in the Dolomites, where mountaineers gather to share experiences and local traditions.
Access is provided by the Valgrande-Stounies cable car, which brings visitors up to this elevation in a short time. Be aware that the facility is currently closed and no overnight stays are available.
The shelter serves as a starting point for three noted climbing routes: the Ivano Dibona, Marino Bianchi, and René De Pol via ferratas. These paths attract experienced climbers from around the region.
