Tuckett refuge, Mountain hut in Brenta Dolomites, Italy.
Tuckett refuge is a mountain hut in the Brenta Dolomites located at 2272 meters elevation, providing sleeping accommodations and dining facilities for hikers and mountaineers. The shelter can be reached by multiple hiking trails and serves traditional Italian mountain cuisine prepared with local ingredients.
The mountain refuge was built by the Società Alpinisti Tridentini between 1904 and 1905, with its official opening in August 1906. It suffered serious damage during World War I and underwent complete restoration afterward.
The refuge is named after Francis Fox Tuckett, a mountaineer who crossed Vallesinella in 1871, and Quintino Sella, the first president of the Italian Alpine Club. It serves as a gathering place where hikers and climbers rest and share meals during their mountain journeys.
The refuge is accessible on foot via several mountain trails, with conditions varying depending on the season and snow coverage. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for multi-hour hikes depending on which route they choose.
Originally, two separate mountain shelters occupied this location before being consolidated. The remains of these earlier structures are still visible in the surrounding area today.
