Forte del Gran Serin, Military fort in Meana di Susa, Italy.
The fortress extends along a mountain ridge at 2,600 meters elevation, featuring artillery positions, barracks, stables, and a protected powder magazine.
Built in 1884, the fort formed part of the northwestern frontier defenses, controlling access through Valle di Susa and Val Chisone during territorial disputes.
The structure represents Italian military engineering of the 19th century, integrating defensive architecture with the natural mountain terrain.
Visitors can reach the fort through an unpaved road open from June to October, with vehicle access permitted on Wednesdays and Saturdays in summer months.
The fort's strategic position allowed artillery coverage from Assietta peak to Monte Gran Costa, protecting the Galambra valley and lower Val Cenischia.
