Monte Politri, Mountain summit in Piedmont, Italy
Monte Politri is a mountain summit in the Cottian Alps that rises to 3,026 meters between Val Chisone and Valle Germanasca. The peak features distinct northern and southern faces, creating a recognizable profile when viewed from surrounding valleys.
The mountain has functioned as a natural boundary between the municipalities of Fenestrelle and Massello in the Turin Metropolitan area since early times. This geographic division has shaped the regional character of the surrounding alpine communities.
Local mountaineering groups maintain multiple climbing routes around Monte Politri, ranging from moderate to difficult technical grades for different skill levels.
Hikers can access the summit via marked trails from Colle dell'Albergian at 2,713 meters, which is reachable from either Balsiglia or Laux villages. Both approach routes are well-marked and allow for different route options depending on your starting point.
A saddle at 2,863 meters connects this peak to the neighboring Fea Nera, while another saddle at 2,880 meters links to Truc Cialabrie mountain. These natural connectors form a ridge system that creates multiple alpine passes across the region.
