Monte Genevris

Monte Genevris is a mountain summit in the Cottian Alps that rises to 2,545 meters with forested slopes and open meadow sections marking its ascent. The peak sits in Piedmont's alpine landscape and serves as a hiking destination with routes that follow natural terrain features.

A high-altitude agricultural research station was established near the mountain's base in the 1930s to study alpine farming and livestock management. This facility contributed to understanding how communities could sustain agriculture in mountain environments.

The summit lighthouse, known as Faro degli Alpini, represents local mountaineering traditions and underwent restoration by community volunteers in July 2022.

Visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions typical of alpine environments where conditions can shift quickly throughout the day. Starting early and wearing appropriate footwear and protective clothing helps ensure a safer and more comfortable experience.

From the summit, visitors can see across two valleys simultaneously and look out toward mountain ranges that extend into neighboring France. This perspective allows hikers to appreciate the geography connecting different alpine regions in a single view.
